Location portraiture is
pretty self-explanatory and can take many forms, shot in many different ways
and is pretty much experimental. However, my favourite location portraiture
shots are those with an interesting background, which is why I've chosen the
six images above because not only have the photographers captured extraordinary
portraits, they have also captured beautiful backgrounds within these shots,
and most of them also contain depth. The first image is of a girl wearing a
pink ball gown dress, in the middle of a forest. I chose this because it raises
so many questions, which a photo is meant to do. I also like that the model
isn't looking at the camera but is looking and facing to the left, as though
she does not notice her photo is being taken. Although this image was most
likely posed for, it gives off a natural feel. In the second image the model is
completely in the left side of the frame, but she is standing in an
alleyway/tunnel, which runs from the foreground of the image to the background
- whilst narrowing which shows depth in the image. I chose this image because
it is different from the other images I have selected, as it is more dark and
mysterious, plus the models body is entirely in the shot. The second to last
image is of a little girl, and the photographer has positioned her to the right
of the frame. I like this image in particular because the background is
incredibly blurry, making the girl the only aspect of the image in focus. Finally,
the last image is of an old man standing in a long road, which we can see to
the left of him, as the photographer has captured depth. I like this image
because the man's hair is flying over his head due to the wind. I also like it
because the long road is leading somewhere behind him, in the middle of nowhere.
